What the hell is Brotherhood?
I believe it's a collection of men who hold you in integrity with the man you say you are. Men who see you, respect, celebrate, challenge, love, and show up for you. And you do the same for them.
In getting married, I saw The Brotherhood of men I have cultivated over my lifetime for the first time.
What I loved about what I noticed was the range of who these men are, what they believe in, how they show up, and how they live.
A few of my groomsmen I've known for 20+ years. And I've been friends with a few of them for less than two years.
Some are spiritual, go on plant medicine journeys with me, do continuous personal development, and highly value depth, vulnerability, and intimacy.
Some party like rockstars, drink like fish, love sports, and know how to let loose.
Some are entrepreneurs and family men. Some have more traditional jobs, some are wildly creative, and some are coaches.
And I have unique and different relationships with all these men. And I love it that way.
I love the guys I get to go on spiritual adventures with. The guys who ask me deep, thoughtful questions and force me to grow as a man, and expect me to do the same for them
—the men who call me on my bullshit and keep my integrity in check.
I learn so much from the men who are great partners and Dads, have fun with those that let loose, and get inspired by the guys who are innovating and creating.
I love that I have friends who throw around heavy weights with me, others who can talk business for hours, and others who aren't afraid to bring their hearts, feelings, and challenges about fatherhood, relationships, and business to our conversations.
I love the experience of all of it. None is better than the other, just different experiences of being a human and being alive.
I love that I have cultivated men around me for decades and men with whose Brotherhood is just beginning.
I love that I get to be all of myself and parts of myself at different times when different people and it's all authentic and me!
Men, we can have it all!
Our lives can be dynamic and expansive, and we can simultaneously succeed in opposite areas of life.
When we unleash ourselves from the cultural conditioning that says men have to be this or that. When we exit the boxes that force us to identify what kind of men we are, we get to choose how we want to be on our terms.
And cultivating relationships like this requires something. They demand you open your mind and heart to Brotherhood and community and identify your truth and desires.
I am so grateful to the men that support me all the way. My brothers, my community!
If you had a dynamic Brotherhood like this supporting you, your relationships, and your goals, what would be possible?
